Most hydraulic sales start with a dirty, burst sample on the counter and a customer who wants it today. This is the procedure that turns that sample into a correct order without a second trip, and it is deliberately short — six steps, in order, every time.

Recording the two ends

Write the ends as End A and End B and keep them in that order all the way to the order line. An assembly with a 90° at one end has an orientation — the angle between the two ends matters, and it is lost the moment someone writes only "90° one end".

When the sample is damaged

When you cannot identify it

Say so. Send the sample to the supplier, or ask the customer to bring the machine or a photograph of the port. A wrong part supplied confidently costs more than a day's delay — the customer fits it, it leaks, the machine stands, and the part comes back.

The hose grade you are supplying, and the grade that came off
The overall length and the orientation of the ends
A note of anything you could not identify and how it was resolved

Keep the record

Write the part number on the job card with the machine make and model. The next time the same hose fails — and on a working machine it will — the customer is in and out in ten minutes instead of starting this procedure again.
