Buying Guide — How to Choose the Right Stabilizer Link

WIN AUTO PARTS · WPR-STB-04 · Suspension Parts — WPR Stabilizer Links

Diagram of a stabilizer link connecting an anti-roll bar to a strut, showing ball joints and boots

Diagram: A stabilizer link connects the anti-roll bar to the strut. It carries little load, so it rattles over bumps long before it actually breaks — and the rubber boot is almost always what fails first.

Article Overview
4 key steps to select the correct WPR stabilizer link: vehicle identification, position (front/rear, LH/RH), measurement, and quality selection. For workshop technicians and parts counter staff.

Step 1 — Identify the Vehicle Exactly

Information Needed Why It Matters
Vehicle make & model Base reference for part selection
Production year Same model may have different specs across years
Engine code / variant Some models have different suspension setups per variant
2WD or 4WD Suspension geometry can differ between drive types
Quickest Method — Bring the Old Part
Remove the worn stabilizer link and bring it to Win Auto Parts. Our parts team will match it to the correct WPR replacement using the physical part for comparison.

Step 2 — Confirm Position (Front/Rear, Left/Right)

Most vehicles have four stabilizer links — front left, front right, rear left, rear right. Always confirm which position needs replacement.

Position Identification:
  • Front links are typically shorter — connect front sway bar to front strut
  • Rear links connect rear sway bar to rear strut or control arm — often different length
  • LH = driver's side (right-hand drive vehicles)
  • RH = passenger's side — some vehicles use different part numbers LH vs RH

Step 3 — Measure the Old Link

Measurement What to Check
Overall length Center-to-center of both ball joints — must match new part exactly
Ball joint stud diameter Measure the stud that threads into the strut or bar bracket
Thread pitch M10, M12, M14 are most common — confirm match
Bushing style Some links use rubber bushings at one or both ends instead of ball joints

Step 4 — OEM versus Aftermarket Quality

WPR (Recommended) Generic / Unknown Brand
Ball Joint Precision forged, sealed, grease nipple Pressed / cast — no grease nipple
Material High-grade steel rod Unknown alloy
Rubber Boot UV & heat resistant rubber Low-grade rubber — cracks quickly
Expected Life OEM-equivalent service life Often fails within 10,000–20,000 km
Returns and Exchanges Win Auto Parts defect cover (see STB-10) None / unknown
✓ Order Recommendation
Always order in pairs (LH + RH). It adds minimal cost but prevents uneven handling and repeat complaints. See STB-10 for ordering instructions.
