❓  WBC BRAKE PADS – FAQ & TROUBLESHOOTINGCommon Questions Answered  |  Diagnosing Brake Issues

📦  PRODUCT QUESTIONS

💡 Q: What does "WBC" stand for? Is it an international brand?

✅ A: WBC is a brake pad brand imported and distributed by Win Auto Parts Co., Ltd., manufactured to OEM specifications and engineered for vehicles sold in the Myanmar market. WBC pads are quality-tested and carry Win Auto Parts product guarantee.

💡 Q: What is the difference between WBC Brake Pad and New WBC Brake Pad?

✅ A: WBC Brake Pad (Semi-Metallic + Shim): 30–65% metal alloy compound with included anti-squeal shim — best for heavy vehicles, trucks, towing, and high-heat braking. New WBC Brake Pad (Ceramic + Shim): Dense ceramic + copper fiber compound with included anti-squeal shim — best for sedans, city cars, and daily drivers who want quiet, clean, gentle braking. See Article W04 for full comparison.

💡 Q: Can I use New WBC Brake Pad on my Toyota Land Cruiser or Coaster?

✅ A: Not recommended. Land Cruiser, Coaster, Hiace Commuter, and Hilux (loaded) are heavy-duty vehicles that require the high heat tolerance and stopping power of WBC Brake Pad. New WBC Brake Pad is engineered for lighter passenger vehicles. Use WBC Brake Pad series (D2232, D2052) for those models.

💡 Q: How do I find the right WBC part number for my car?

✅ A: Find your vehicle brand prefix (D2xxx=Toyota, D1xxx=Nissan, D6xxx=Mitsubishi, etc.), then look up your model and year in Article W05 – Part Number Guide, or call 09 5105768 with your car make, model, year, and axle position (Front/Rear).

💡 Q: Are WBC pads compatible with OEM brake rotors?
✅ A: Yes. WBC pads are engineered to OEM fitment and are compatible with all standard OEM rotors for the listed vehicles. Using quality rotors (OEM or equivalent) is recommended. Worn or grooved rotors should be replaced when fitting new pads.
💡 Q: How long do WBC brake pads last?
✅ A: Typical lifespan: 30,000–50,000 km for WBC Brake Pad (varies by load and driving style). New WBC Brake Pad: 40,000–60,000 km typical. Heavy-duty use (frequent stops, mountains, towing) will reduce pad life. Inspect pads every 15,000–20,000 km.

🔊  NOISE & FEEL QUESTIONS

💡 Q: My brakes are squealing after fitting new WBC pads. Is this normal?

✅ A: Yes, mild squealing in the first 50–200 km is normal during break-in (especially New WBC Brake Pad). The resin binder and surface coating cure during this period. If squealing continues beyond 200 km, check: (1) anti-squeal compound applied to pad backing? (2) hardware clips correctly seated? (3) was break-in procedure followed?

💡 Q: There is a metal grinding noise when I brake. What is happening?
✅ A: Metal-on-metal grinding = pads have worn through completely and the metal backing plate is contacting the rotor. This is an URGENT safety issue. Stop driving immediately and replace pads and rotor. Do not continue driving in this condition.
💡 Q: My brakes vibrate or pulse when I stop. What is the cause?
✅ A: Brake pulsation = warped or uneven rotor surface. Common causes: emergency stops before break-in (glazed pads/rotor), overheated rotor, severe rust. Solution: resurface (machine) or replace rotor. New pads on a warped rotor will not fix the pulsation.
💡 Q: Brakes are pulling to one side when stopping. Why?
✅ A: One-side pull = uneven braking force. Causes: seized caliper piston on one side, uneven pad wear, one pad not making full contact. Check caliper slides are free and not corroded. Lubricate or rebuild seized caliper before fitting new pads.

🔧  FITTING & COMPATIBILITY QUESTIONS

💡 Q: Do I need to replace rotors when I fit new WBC pads?
✅ A: Not always, but you MUST measure rotor thickness. If rotor is at or below minimum thickness (usually stamped on the rotor hat), replace it. If rotor has deep grooves or hard spots, replace or machine it. Fitting new pads on a worn rotor wastes the new pads and delivers poor braking.
💡 Q: Can I replace only front or only rear pads?
✅ A: Yes, you can replace one axle at a time — but always replace BOTH pads on the same axle together (e.g., both front left and front right). Never replace just one side of an axle — this causes uneven braking and pulling.
💡 Q: Can I mix WBC Brake Pad on front and New WBC Brake Pad on rear (or vice versa)?
✅ A: No. Front and rear axles can have different pad types IF those were the original OEM specifications for your vehicle (e.g., many cars use WBC front/WBC rear, or New WBC front/New WBC rear). Do NOT mix WBC Brake Pad and New WBC Brake Pad on the SAME axle (e.g., WBC Brake Pad on front-left and New WBC Brake Pad on front-right). Always fit matching pairs per axle.
💡 Q: My WBC pads came with hardware clips. Do I need to use them?
✅ A: Yes. Always install all provided hardware clips, shims, and anti-rattle springs. These control pad movement and prevent noise. Reusing old, rusty clips causes the pads to rattle and squeal. If hardware is missing, contact Win Auto Parts for a replacement set.

🚨  TROUBLESHOOTING QUICK REFERENCE

Symptom Possible Cause Solution Urgency
Squealing (first 200 km) Normal break-in process Complete break-in procedure; apply anti-squeal compound to pad backing LOW
