What a thrust washer does, and why it is often missed

Thrust washers control how far the crankshaft can move along its own axis — the endfloat. They are small, cheap and easy to overlook in a rebuild, and they are also the first thing to wear in a vehicle driven with a dragging clutch or a worn release bearing, because that load pushes the crank forward continuously. Ordering a connecting rod bush

A small-end bush is pressed into the eye of the connecting rod and then reamed or honed to suit the gudgeon pin. Ordering it needs the engine code and the pin diameter, and it is worth saying whether the rods have already been machined.
