How do you measure a universal joint?

Two numbers identify a universal joint bearing: the cap diameter and the overall length across the caps. Two naming traps that cause wrong orders

The first is the hyphen. The same joint appears in listings as GUMZ12 and as GUMZ-12, and as GUMZ2 and GUMZ-2.
