An engine mounting has two jobs that pull against each other: hold a heavy engine still under torque, and stop its vibration reaching the body. That is why they are rubber bonded to steel, why some are filled with hydraulic fluid, and why a failed one is felt everywhere in the vehicle at once. A collapsed mount also lets the engine move far enough to strain hoses, wiring and the exhaust, so it rarely stays a cheap fault for long. Do not substitute a solid mount for a hydraulic one
A hydraulic mount is tuned to the engine it was designed for. Replacing it with a solid rubber mount transmits far more vibration into the cabin, and the customer will hear it at idle immediately. If the original is hydraulic, order hydraulic.

2. How a Mount Fails
Mount ပျက်စီးပုံ
- Rubber separates from the steel. The bond breaks and the engine can move on that corner. Often visible as a clean split where rubber meets metal.
- The rubber collapses under load, lowering the engine and changing the alignment of everything attached to it.
- A hydraulic mount leaks. Once the fluid is out it behaves like a badly worn solid mount and often worse.
- Oil contamination. An engine or gearbox oil leak landing on a mount softens and swells the rubber. Fix the leak or the new mount goes the same way.
- Heat cracking on mounts sitting near the exhaust.
- Fastener failure. A mount that has been loose has been hammering itself and the bracket — check the bracket for elongated holes and cracks.

Load the engine both ways before deciding
A mount that looks fine at rest can be completely detached under torque. With the vehicle held on the brakes, apply load in forward and in reverse and watch each mount in turn. Movement of more than a few millimetres, or any clunk, is a failed mount.

4. What a Collapsed Mount Damages Next

- Exhaust flexible section — the engine moves, the exhaust does not, and the flex pipe tears.
- Radiator hoses and the radiator itself, chafed or strained by engine movement.
- Wiring looms and earth straps, stretched until a connection breaks intermittently.
- Drive shafts and CV joints, running at angles they were not designed for.
- The remaining mounts, which now carry more load and fail sooner.
- The gear linkage on manual vehicles, which is why a vague gearchange sometimes turns out to be a mount.

5. What to Record Before Ordering

- Make, model, production year, engine code and transmission type. Mounts differ between manual and automatic on the same vehicle.
- Which mount: right-hand engine mount, left-hand gearbox mount, front or rear torque rod, and so on.
- Hydraulic or solid, and whether the original has wiring or a vacuum pipe.
- Bolt hole spacing and stud orientation, with a photograph.
- Any part number cast into the bracket or printed on the rubber.
- Whether other mounts are also being replaced — they are usually the same age.

6. Fitting — Order of Tightening Matters

- Support the engine properly before removing any mount, with a hoist or an engine support bar — not a jack under the sump alone.
- Fit all mounts loosely first, then lower the engine to its natural position, then tighten. Tightening one mount fully while the engine hangs pre-loads the rubber and it will tear.
- Follow the specified sequence and torque where the manufacturer gives one.
- Replace mounts in sets where practical. One new mount next to two collapsed ones carries everything and fails early.
- Fix the oil leak first if oil contamination killed the old mount.
- Re-check the torque after a short road test, and look again at the exhaust and hose clearances with the engine now sitting correctly.
